So They Say They Come in 3s

First there was the nail that almost ripped off...

Then there were the skinned knees (because it was so hot here, mama put him in shorts for the first time since he started walking)

And finally the gash on his forehead that happened when he tripped on the vacuum cord and went head first into the wall.
3 Boo boos, 3 days. Oy!!

Before you call child services, I should tell you that I am extremely clumsy. Perhaps he inherited his lack of grace from me. We are hoping it's just because he's a toddler, but if not, he has a lot of ER visits to look forward to. I have had stitches at least four times, a broken foot, a broken nose, a concussion, just to name a few....

Evan has the CUTEST friends

Our favorite playgroup friends are above. I love practicing taking pictures of other people's children. They tend to not be so sick of seeing a camera lens in their face, and smile a little more for me!!!

Bedtime Routine

Tonight I thought I would take advantage of Daddy taking over getting Evan ready for bed, by taking a few snapshots. You can see how much he hates being out of control when he is getting dressed. But let me tell you, he loves brushing his teeth. I can get him to stop fussing, just about any time of day, if I offer him a tooth brush!!!

First Real Boo Boo, and He's Milkin it

My poor little guy fell yesterday on the side walk, and ripped off 2/3rds of his finger nail. How, I don't know. But it is nasty. He has had MANY bumps and bruises before. But this is the first that required a bandaid. He knows what boo boo means now, and he keeps putting his finger out for me to kiss. I just hope his nail grows back, FAST. Because it's impossible to keep clean, and it's a chore to change that bandaid.

What Happened to My Chubby Baby?

My hard drive on my computer is officially full. It was only a matter of time with the amount of pictures I take on a daily basis. So I was going through old photos, deleting the blurry ones, ones with eyes closed, ones where I have ten of the exact same pose, etc. Anyway, I came across these pictures of him from when he was 4-6 months old, and what a chubby boy. Check out those massive thighs, that double chin, that little Buddha belly. I miss it!!! I gotta fatten him up, so I can nuzzles in between his sweet little chins again.

Enjoying the Warm Weather

It was almost 80 degrees here yesterday!!! What a change from the 40's last week. We were going a little stir crazy so we were very excited to get out of the house. Evan finally learned how to make his little ATV he got for Christmas, go on it's own. It goes 2 mph, but wow does that seem fast. Thanks Uncle Kevin!!! He also LOVES his wagon from Grammy.
Oh, and I discovered the trick to getting an intense look from him ( for goodness sakes, check out that fourth picture- he looks like he is in a trance!!!), just take picture when a car or truck drives by. He is REALLY into any type of automobile right now. Now, if I could just figure out how to make him smile on cue!!!!

Not Me Monday

Welcome to Not Me! Monday! This blog carnival was created by MckMama. You can head over to her blog to read what she and everyone else have not been doing this week.

I definitely wasn't preparing for hosting a playgroup last week, and while multi-tasking, poured the water straight onto the coffee grounds, rather then in the back of the coffee pot and not notice it until I was serving coffee to 5 different Moms and saw coffee grounds all in the coffee. Not Me!!!

I definitely didn't only paint my big toe and my second toe on each foot, when I was in a rush and was wearing open toe heels. And then I didn't wait and fix it until three days later. Keep in mind I don't wear flip flops MOST of the time (it's usually 70 degrees here). But the weather doesn't matter, because I didn't do that!!!!

We definitely don't name Evan's stuffed animals for him instead of waiting until he is old enough to name them himself. We don't have a transgender stuffed elephant either, that would just be odd. Because Evan's elephant wasn't named Chelsea, and then after Grammy insisted he was a boy elephant I finally gave in and changed his name to Howard. We most certainly don't have stuffed animals named Raphael, Raquel, Howard, Julianne, Xander, Oscar, Rupert, Charlie and Duncan. Nope, only weird people would do that, and we are 100% normal.

I didn't sit on the kitchen floor the other day and feed Evan while he was taking all of my Tupperware out of my cabinet, simply because it was easier then putting him in high chair and have him throw a fit because he didn't want to stop playing to eat.

I don't secretly stress out if I am away from home for more than five days, because I am afraid my TIVO will erase super-important shows I have yet to watch. Because I do super sophisticated things with my spare time.

I didn't train my husband to bring me a Diet Mountain Dew every morning to my bedside before I wake up. And I don't seriously ask him wear my Mountain Dew is, if he doesn't bring it promptly at 6:30. Because that would just be kinda bossy and high-maintenance. And that ain't me!!!

These pictures have no relevance. Just cute ones I took this weekend while I WASN'T doing any of the above!!!

Wordless Saturday

I know Wordless Wednesday sounds better. But it's Saturday and I have a cute picture of Evan. I have nothing much to say about it. I just like the picture, and that smile....melts my heart!!

Lofty Goals

Evan's Pediatrician suggested that Evan stop sucking his thumb by 18 months. It ain't gonna happen. I can try to discourage it.... but I just can't see it happening. I guess we better start saving now for the Orthodontist, huh??

Weighing in

Last September, I posted about how Evan only weighed 20 lbs 4 oz at his 12 month check up, measuring only 10th percentile for weight. No Mom never wants to hear her baby is not gaining weight, or is below average. But as I have said before, he has been eating very well over the last month, and it has paid off baby!!!! He is now in the 30th percentile for weight, 55th percentile for height and 95th percentile, that's right, 95th percentile for head circumference!!!! He only weighs 23 lbs 1 oz, but hey, that is good enough for me!!! Also to update, he is right on track with his verbal and motor skills, and he has six, almost eight teeth!! Our goals for the next three months: get rid of the bottle and start feeding ourselves!!!! Not me, I am actually great at feeding myself, but rather EVAN!!!!

Shhhhhh, 15 words and counting....

Evan can say just about 15 words now. He is picking things up so fast. I say a word a couple of times in a row and he's got it. He said turtle the other day!!! Today he started saying Shhhhhh or Shush whenever the dogs barked. I suppose I do that often!!! But he also put his finger up in front of his mouth when he did it, which was adorable!!! He said it to some guy at Joanne Fabrics today. The guy said, Hey buddy, what's your name? And he replied with Shhhhh, along with the finger gesture seen above in the picture. Still doesn't say Mama though, I may add.

My Little Book Worm

I love it that Evan loves books. Sometimes I don't feel like reading him the same book 20 times in a day, but I always try to do it with a smile. I decided I really do have OCD. Because half of the time, he walks away half way through me reading a book. But my OCD makes me finish reading it cover to cover, aloud. Even if Evan is not listening. What's wrong with me??? Sometimes my OCD works in my favor, but this is a complete waste of time!!!!! I digress, I love that he loves books.
P.S. Aren't these cute Jammies? They are hand-me-downs, and they say "Big Man on Campus". Speaking of big man, look at that little tummy that is slowly appearing on him!!! He's getting to be kind of a chub!!!

That's What Little Boys Are Made Of

One of my favorite quotes about little boys, by author unknown:

A boy is Truth with dirt on it's face,
Beauty with a cut on its finger,
Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair,
and the Hope of the future with a frog in its pocket.

Evan, Let's make sure we get extra dirty today...

Because, after all, you just had a bath and it's only 8:00 in the morning.

And being clean is no fun at all.

Get dirt under each and every finger nail.

Play with dirt, leaves, sand, grass, and make sure to get stains all over your clothes!!!

Good thing Mommy tries so hard to disinfect your bottles and sippy cups every day.

We wouldn't want to get germs or dirt in our mouths, now would we??

Playdate at Sofia's House

We enjoyed a playdate today at Evan's friend, Sofia's house. His other friends Avery and Graham were there too, who got most of the attention because they are SUPER cute almost-5 month olds. Not twins, but born on the same day, and their Mommies have been friends since grade school!!! Anyway, unfortunately I didn't get any great pictures of Sofia or her Mommy, or even of Evan for that matter!!! But I got those babies!!!! What cuties!!! Evan can't wait for Graham to be able to walk, so they can start getting into some trouble together!!!
