Park'in It

Just another day at the park with my boys. So thankful that it's only 90 degrees instead of 300, like it has been for the last 3 months.  Yesterday we enjoyed an outing to the park with Meema and Ugbie.  We were so sad to see them go today, back to reality tomorrow.

Evan's Third Cake... I lost count.

Don't think I have forgoten to post about Evan's Birthday.  His main post is coming up this weekend, after the big shin-dig.  This last weekend though, Evan devoured some yummy cupcakes on his actual birthday, followed by another homemade cake for Sunday night in order to celebrate with Pop and Nana during their visit.  Why are birthdays so important around here?  Not sure.  They were never a big deal when I was growing up.  Perhaps it's because Paul and I tried for three years to have this little miracle boy, or perhaps it's because we weren't sure that Drew would even make it to his first birthday 11 short months ago!  Or perhaps I just like to throw a good party and spoil my boys?  Probably the latter.  Anyway, here are a few pictures of Evan and Pop Pop icing his third cake!  And no need to adjust your screen.  Pop Pop really is that tan.  I am pretty sure his parents adopted him from a Native American reservation.  And I don't think Evan has inherited Pop Pops ability to tan.  Nope, I am pretty sure about that.

You're Under Arrest

Evan, you are under arrest.... for stealing my heart!!!  Ok, I hate myself for being so corny.  I can only my imagine the corniness factor will continue to increase as I get older and care less and less what people think of me.  Yikes.  And Corky, you are under arrest too.  Something about being too cute and having stinky breath.  Yeah, that's it.  I can't stop, you guys.  The cheesiness, it's just unstoppable.

Duck Tail

I love how Drew's hair kind of curls up in the back.  I call it his duck tail.  It's a small, thin duck tail, but a duck tail nonetheless.  And I love it.  I love me some bald babies.  I don't mind that you can see his soft spot pulsating.  Not at all.  Ok, now I am just staring at his soft spot and it is kind of creeping me out.  But oh how I really do love the way that bald babies look.  A full head of hair just makes them grow up way too fast. I want to keep Drew little forever.

After Party

I told you we were celebrating a lot around here!  Of course, we needed to have an after party at the playground, after Evan's school Birthday party!!!  So we celebrated with a little Chick-fil-A, some swinging, and some hide-and-go-seek, what else?!

Monkey See.... Monkey Do.

Happy Birthday Little Fishes' Style

Evan had his Birthday party at his school, Little Fishes, today.  There is another classmate with the same birthday on Friday, so I wanted to do his today to make sure he didn't have to share his special day.  The cake went over well.  I think I got 9 out of 10 thumbs up.  Jonah said it "tasted weird", as you can see his facial expression is somewhat disgusted with the scratch-made butter cream icing.  I didn't take it personally.  Probably never had freshly made butter cream icing.  I mean, who doesn't like butter and sugar and a little vanilla extract with so much food coloring your teeth turn blue?  Not me, I say.  Evan was over-joyed with being the Birthday boy.  This boy is not shy in the slightest, any more.  He has definitely come out of his shell over the last six months or so.  And boy was he hamming it up for Ms. B's camera, which I completely take offense to.  Why won't you smile for me Ev?  Anyway, it was a special day for Evan, and for me.  Last year, I had to miss his school Birthday party, because I was in the hospital on bed rest after my water broke prematurely.  But let me tell you, we are making up for missing last year's Birthday, this year.  We have been celebrating for days, and his Birthday isn't until Friday!

And on a separate note, how cute is his shirt?  That's from his buddy Bowen, and I just think it's adorable!!!  Not sure if you can tell how cute he looks in these pictures though.  Tungsten light isn't good for Evan's complexion, he is so pale, he almost looks see translucent.  I believe I can count the veins in his cheeks.  I think I go a little too crazy with the sun screen, No?

Taking a Vote

Taking a Vote:
A.  Homemade cakes = Love.  Doesn't matter what they look like if they were made by the loving hands of your Mama.
B.  Hey cheap a--, call Publix A-Sap.  What the heck is that anyway?

Here is my 2nd practice cake for Evan's Birthday.  I think it's a big improvement from the first practice cake.  His classmates will be devouring it (hopefully) tomorrow morning at school.  So here's my question, make another rocket ship for the big shin dig next Saturday, or call Publix.  Seriously.  Help.  And if you know how to decorate cakes, get over here... NOW, and help a Mama out before I drown my sorrows in butter cream icing.

Photoshoot Gone Bad.

It doesn't take much to have a really good photoshoot.  Good camera, some great natural light, patience, and a willing participant.  Add a few creative ideas and you are all set.  Check, check, check...crap.  No willing participants today.  Oh well.  Atleast I have some pictures of a throroughly disgusted almost 3 year old and his many cars.
And just when you think it can't get any worse, try doing a photoshoot with Drew laying down.  I just wanna crawl Mom.  Please just let me be!
