Jonah's 3rd Birthday at the TRex Cafe

The boys had a blast at their friend, Jonah's 3rd Birthday party.  What an awesome place to have a Bday party, the Trex Cafe!!!  They not only dined like little kings, they got to make their own Dinosaur and dig for dinosaur bones in a huge sandbox.  Evan named his dinosaur, Danny.  Danny makes a roaring noise if you squeeze his tail.  Evan is supposed to be napping right now, but all I hear over the baby monitor are Danny's roars.  Go to sleep Danny.  Please.  Mama needs a Siesta.

The Boys... Through a Friend's Lens

Here are some pictures my friend Jen took of my boys and her kids!  She watched Evan for me a few weeks ago and she was adventurous enough to take on finger painting with two 2 year olds... BRAVE!!  And there are a few pictures that she took of them when we were at the park.  How cute is Kathryn?  I am pretty sure she will be Drew's first girlfriend!

Evan... Through Meema's Lens

Here are a few pics Meema took of my number one three year old.  Edited by me!  Because I just can't get enough of Photoshop Elements these days.

Look How Far he has Come!

Today Drew had his one year well check up, and I couldn't help but reminisce over the last year.  I was once again bummed out when they told me how much Drew weighed (18 lbs 4 oz and still the negative 5th percentile) but I have to look back and see how far he has come.  If I think about this time last year, I certainly won't worry about his weight and how the little bugger won't eat what I want him to.  One year ago, I had this little tiny, helpless baby boy who was 4lbs.  Now I have a healthy (although small) 18 lbs boy who is clearly thriving.  There is really no other comparable emotion to the one I felt (granted, there are many other much worse emotions, but nothing I don't think, that is similar) when I came home from the hospital without my Drew.  One minute I am pregnant and can feel him kicking inside of me, the next minute I am home laying in my bed trying to fall asleep with my baby 20 miles away in the NICU on a breathing machine.  That in and of itself is enough to make one feel depressed, but then add on the fact that I had to set my alarm for every 2 hours for the next month around the clock, to pump, ugg, get me some freaking Xanax.  Oh wait, can't take that, I am breastfeeding!!!  OK, not sure how this post became about me....I digressed once again.  The bottom line is, I worry every single day about my little boy's weight and what he eats, and it's so hard to not be able to control every aspect of his little life.  But that's what it's all about when you are a Mom I suppose.  And I just need to focus on the the big picture.  I have done something right (there I go again talkin about myself...sheesh!) because he looks healthy to me.  I think I am going to start a movement to BAN percentile charts.  What's the freaking point?  As long as they are healthy, why do we really need to know about how they compare to every other child in America?  OK, done ranting.  KThanks. Goodbye.  And one more picture to remind myself just how far he has come.

 Drew at Birth:
4 lbs 10 oz
17 inches

Drew at One Year"]:
18 lbs 4 oz (negative 5th percentile)

Yikes!

Geez, it's been so long since I have had a fussy baby on my hands, I almost forgot what it was like.  Drew felt the need to remind me and therefore has been fussing for the last week or two.  I am pretty sure I know the culprit, it's those darn teeth that don't seem to want to give me Drew a break lately.  I didn't know this before, but top front teeth size seem to be directly proportionate to the size of ones head.  It's a fact people, science even.  Drew's got some BIG ole top teeth coming in.  And perhaps the bigger the tooth, the bigger the fuss?  I need to write a book with all this knowledge I got.  Oh yeah, and one more tid bit of information before I go, batman figurines make great teethers!

A Tale of a Boy with a Case of Post-Birthday Party Blues

Evan finally realized the other day that the "party is over".  The daily cards and presents arriving in the mail, the decorations, the cake...oh my goodness, the cake!  It's all over.  Evan has been saying "I am going to be 3!" for the last few months and even for the last week or two since he turned 3.  But finally the other day, he looked at me and said "the party is over Mom, I AM 3 now".  Yes, bud, the party is over.  Let's start planning next year, shall we?

More Pictures of Pope Drew Eating Cake

Ugbie sent me these adorable pictures of Drew in his pope hat, eating  playing with his birthday cake!

Curve Ball

Why can't each kid have the same issues, so at least I sort of know what I am doing on a day to day basis.  Not that I want Drew to follow in Evan's foot steps and be a bad eater, by any means!  But at least I would know how to handle that.  How to get rice out of a one year olds nose because he is such an aggressive eater?  Nope, never had to do that before.  Atleast he is eating, right?  And at least I have Corky near by to keep my floors somewhat clean?  I just wish Corky wasn't such a picky eater.  She basically likes meat.  Cheese and fruit and veggies, not so much.  In all honesty, I love that Drew is a messy eater.  Evan hates to even touch his food to this day, so it's kind of refreshing.  We immediately have to give Drew a bath after dinner these days.  And oh how Evan hates to share a bath with Drew, simply because there are always chunks of food floating around from food that was stashed away in his crevices.  I also, up until two days ago, have never had to deal with poop in the bath tub.  Evan wouldn't dare do that, poop is dirty.  Why on earth would one poop when one is trying to clean themself?  Drew, does as he pleases, when he pleases and doesn't worry about getting dirty.  So he pooped in the bathtub the other day.  Evan was DISGUSTED.  He basically leaped out of the bathtub and told me we needed to buy a new bathtub and he wasn't going back in there ever again.  Drew would have ate it if I let him.  The boy couldn't be any more different then Evan when it comes to eating and cleanliness.  Oh how I love my very different, but equally sweet boys.
