Monkey See, Monkey Do

Today we went to the Sanford Zoo with six of my girlfriends and their babies for story time by a local librarian and for a tour of the zoo. It was about 45 minutes away, and we left right during Evan's usual nap-time, which made me a little nervous straight away. But he did pretty good. As long as we kept moving, and didn't stand still too long, he was happy. The zoo itself was fairly small. We walked through the trails where the animals were and were done before we knew it. The elephants were everyone's favorite, including Evan's. I was trying to get Evan to peek his head through the hole where the baby elephant's face was supposed to be, with no luck. Until his buddy James did it, then Evan immediately followed.

Things I Learned at the Zoo
To a 17 month old, sticks and dirt are just as cool as looking at Gorillas and Elephants.
My biceps are much too weak, and actually are sore after carrying Evan through the zoo. Stroller's are too short and little boys do not want to sit in the stroller for more than five minutes, for fear they will miss something.
Everyone in Jacksonville under the age of 10 was at the zoo today, being that it was a holiday.
Giraffes are my favorite animal in the world.
They are HUNGRY animals, and appear to have bottomless pits for stomachs!!
They have such a sweet disposition and are so peaceful.
