Camera Ready

It sounds bad, but when Drew was born, he was anything but camera-ready, even after all of the tubes and wires were removed. He was still very scrawny, his hair had been shaved, he was a tad bit jaundiced, and his skin was covered in baby acne. He just wasn't quite ready for the outside world. And that was painful for me. One of the two things I grabbed when running out of the house, when my water broke at 32 weeks pregnant was my camera! Sure, he was beautiful to me, but photogenic, not so much. Today, I can honestly say he is my little Gerber baby. Ugbie is in town right now, with his amazing camera in tow... so that called for a photo shoot. Here are three shots we got of Drew lounging on the couch.

Make That a Double

Aaaa-choooooo, I caught Drew mid-sneeze.

The not-so little brother.

Not only does Drew have a double chin, he has doubled his birth weight and then some! He is now weighing in at 9 lbs 12 oz.!!! And I'm pretty sure he is atleast twice as cute as he was when he was born!!

Baby Caroline

My friend Jennifer asked me to take some pictures of her 8 month old daughter. She actually thinks I take good pictures!!! I haven't been happy with my pictures lately, so it makes me feel good that someone thinks I have some talent ( NO, I am not fishing for compliments by the way). Well, let me tell you, her baby is a DOLL. She is the sweetest, prettiest, happiest little girl around. I didn't have to do much to make her smile like that. It was so much fun.

The Gang

Who wants to see pictures of me and not my boys, NOT ME!! But there are so few pictures of Paul and I, I had to post it. It was from our date night the other night, my girlfriend emailed it to me today. Here is the whole gang, Christmas 2009.

Ornament Exchange Party with Friends

Yesterday we went to an ornament exchange party with Evan's friends. It was such a sweet idea! There were lots of Christmas treats, a bounce house, toys galore to play with, and we even did a craft. Evan isn't pictured much here, as you can tell his mood wasn't great. Here he was crying because I asked him to sit with his friends for a picture. You would have thought I snatched a lollipop from his mouth. Drew was such a doll, he slept like a baby amidst all the playing children. Wish he would sleep like that at home!!! But it gave me a chance to play with Evan and take some pictures of his buddies.

Caught on Tape

Drew's first smile caught on camera. Not the most flattering picture of him, but many more to come I am sure.

Which one is Which?

I know you are sick of hearing about it. Yes, we get it, they look alike. But really, even their mannerisms are alike. It's uncanny!! Evan had torticollis, an injury he had from being in my belly a certain way. So his head was always tilted to the side until he underwent physical therapy. Drew doesn't have this, but when he sleeps he always tilts his head to the same side as Evan did. They also both sneeze 2-3 times when they first see sunlight. It's insane how much they are alike. I was kind of hoping for an easy going infant, as Evan was NOT. But no such luck. They both like to be held CONSTANTLY and will let you know if they aren't happy. But I couldn't love Evan and his personality any more (now that is, maybe not so much as a newborn) so the fact that I may have two little boys like Evan is really exciting!!
So one picture is Drew and one is Evan. Which one is which?

Date Night

Saturday night we got a babysitter!!! Whoo hoo!!! We needed a night out. We met five other couples and had a little holiday get together at a restaurant at the Gaylord Palms resort in Orlando. The food was excellent. The company was even better!!! We all brought gag gifts to exchange too, which were hilarious!! I won't even mention what we brought home, but it's going in a place where Evan can't find it, because it's definitely inappropriate for children to see!!! Anyway, we had a great night, and it reminded me what a great group of friends we have found here in Orlando!

Multiple Choice

Question:

I made Christmas cupcakes today because:

a. I am in the Christmas spirit and was in the mood to do some baking.

b. Both of my dogs had explosive diarrhea upstairs and I am trying to get the poop smell out of my house... before realizing now my house smells like chocolate covered poop.

c. I have an insatiable sweet tooth.

d. I am bribing Evan to be good as he will have his first non-family babysitter tonight while awake (usually we have them sit for us when he is already asleep).

e. I am trying to keep the babysitter happy so she will babysit again for us!!

f. All of the above.

Answer: Sadly, f.

WOW, What's the occasion?

I am always the one behind the camera, I have no pictures of me and both my boys, and the last picture I have of me and Evan was many months ago. What's the occasion? I actually showered today and blew dried my hair!!! That is a rare combination as of late!!! No really, I thought it was time I change my facebook profile picture given that my last one was taken over a year ago!! Plus I am almost back to my pre-pregnancy weight, got 3 lbs to go, whoo hoo!!! Then I have another 10 lbs after that, but that sounds too intimidating, I would rather think about a single digit number for now. But it's not like I am dieting or excercising... just nursing. That's work in and of itself. I need to get my butt in gear, but for now I am enjoying my baby. I can work out later and continue to hide under baggy winter clothes!!

Da' Beatles (must use an English accent in your head when you read this title)

Here is Evan in one of his new shirts. He can now say "Da Beatles" in an english accent!!

Smitten

I cannot tell you Evan, how proud of you I am for embracing your little brother. You resisted a bit at first, but now it is clear you are smitten! You both are so lucky to have each other.
